Title: Land & Sea
Depicting fragments of the old growth forests and coastal habitats of the Pacific Northwest, “Land & Sea” is a reflection on our loss of place in wild environments. Moments of belonging and tranquility are broken by ominous reminders of our alienation from true wildness: the deadly natural forces we’re ill-adapted to navigate, the lifeforms devastated by our civilization’s tyranny over the biosphere, the spectral beings that haunt us for our betrayal. The show includes somber gouache and watercolor paintings, cyanotype prints and botanical dyes on paper and found textiles, and a risograph art zine titled “You Do Not Belong Here”.
