Dadu Shin is an artist living and working in Brooklyn NY. While he really likes making pictures and looking at pictures, his real dream is to grow a foot taller and become a pro basketball player.
Here and There
Dadu Shin simplifies and eases his image-making process. Through working monotonically, he takes color choices out of the equation, allowing a simple focus on the drawing. The method of drawing - layering small marks and squiggles with a ballpoint pen - creates an environment in which the softness and tightness of rendering can be played with. This gives Shin the ability to depict a variety of imagery - hazy memories, quiet moments, and thoughts from here and there.
